Corazon “Cory” Aquino dies at 76
Former President Corazon C. Aquino has passed away around 3:18 in the morning of August 1, 2009 due to cardio-respiratory arrest.
Cory Aquino who was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer last 2008 was treated with chemotheraphy and underwent a surgery last may to remove some parts of her colon. She was confined in the Makati Medical Center last June due to lose of appetite.
The Aquino family were praying the rosary around her bed when she died. A statement that was read by Sen. Noynoy Aquino said.
“She would have wanted us to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers and your continued love and support. It was her wish for all of us to pray for one another and for our country,”
The international democratic icon Cory Aquino, lead the first people power revolution in the Philippines on 1986 (EDSA 1) which brought down the corrupt regime of Ferdinand E. Marcos.
